New project
Thank you all for the many positive reactions I get on my blog and newsletter!! It means a lot to me that you all appreciate it. I worked really hard the last few weeks, I had so much fun. I often wonder why I love this so much, because it’s quite boring, to be honest. But the joy of seeing a little creature coming to life from your own imagination is priceless I guess…. 😀
So, get ready for some new work in progress pictures, there’s a lot of them this week! I hope you enjoy them, and leave your comment in the comment box below this article!!
By the way, I started this sculpture in september, last year, so these are not only pictures from the last few weeks. Just saying, otherwise you may get the impression that a sculpture can be easily sculpted in a few days… hèhè.. 😉
This is the base of my new sculpture, the frame covered with tape…
Sculpting the upper body and the arms…
Sculpting the hands…
The upper body, the arms and hands are sculpted, now I’m adding clay and details to the skirt. LOTS of work to do! 😀
A glimpse of my studio. I love working here in the summer! 🙂
And adding some more details…
Here’s how it goes. I take a small piece of polymer clay and roll it under my fingers on a flat, clean surface.
I take the clay and roll it into an elegant curl onto the dress… Simple as that, right? 😉
I’m putting it carefully into place with my tools… It’s all about balance. You can’t push it too hard in the clay, because you will squish everything, but if you don’t push hard enough, it will come loose.
Adding the nails. I waited for this untill all the ornaments were added to the skirt, because I was afraid of ruining the nails while sculpting the skirt. It happens… 😉
Ta da! After more than 10 (yes, 10!!) hours of adding little ornaments to the skirt, this is the result. Glad that’s done… hèhè…
And the back of her skirt…
While everything’s in the oven, I start sculpting her head…
When everything’s cooled off, I can sand the upper body and arms.
And then again, a few more hours of adding details to the socket… Oh, no!! Not again!!… 😉
When the weather’s really nice and warm, I like to sit in my garden… Sculpting in the summer is nice… <3 *sigh* Wish the weather would always be this nice…. <3
The head is attached to the body and she got some really nice and BIG ears! Thàt’ll make her listen, hèhè… 😉
As a finishing touch, I’m adding some rhinestones to the socket.
I like the result…
This is it: the last pic I can show you this time.
Make sure you let me know what you think about her so far, in the comment box at the bottom of this page! Thanks!
I hope you enjoyed it and see you next time!
